Galleria Arte Moderna, Milano – some weeks ago I had the chance to see the Hermes vernissage: Forte e Fragile. This art exhibit celebrates the great iconic felines roaming the earth such as tigers, lions, jaguars, pumas, leopards and panthers. These creatures are beautiful and seductive and the same time powerful and ferocious. They had become the inspiration for the famous wild fauna artist, Robert Dallet (1923-2006). Dallet had dedicated most of his life studying and observing these wildcats. On my observation, through his sketches and paintings – he paid much attention on every silent and clandestine movements of these civets.
In the mid-90s, he collaborated with Hermes as a carré silk illustrator that went on for the next 20 years which paved way of bringing into actualization some of the acclaimed carré designs of the maison. Together with the brand artistic director, Pierre Alexis-Dumas and Panthera founder, Thomas S. Kaplan they created a project name Robert Dallet Initiative for Wild Cat Conservation. This aims to preserve their natural habitat and their diverse passageway for survival.
The exhibit was held at Galleria Arte Moderna in Via Palestro from 23 April to 8 May. I am glad I was able to conserve my Hermes bangles so I wore them during the visit and this Kaos Jeans V cut stripe knit is just perfect for a day at the museum – don’t you think so?
